The Clark County School District's Miley Achievement
Center was recently named a "Best of 2006
Nevada Award in Green Building: Public Project"
winner. JMA Architure Studios, the school's
architectrual partner, submitted the winning
deisgn, one of 18 winner selected statewide
from the annual competition.
Winning design were chosen based on the follwing
criteria: quality of design and contruction,
innovation, contribution to the industry, ability
to overcome challenges and overall excellence.
The winners were selected by an independent
panel of judges who were chosen from the construction
industry in each state.
Miley Achievement Center was designed and constructed
following strict Green Building guidelines and
is in the process of registering ofr Leadership
in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification.
LEED is the nationally accepted benchmark for
the design, construction, and operation of high
performance green buildings.
Each of the 18 winning projects, selected from
105 entries statewide, will be featured in the
December 2006 issue of Southwest Contractor
magazine. An awards ceremony honoring the 2006
Best of Nevada selections will be held in the
Renaissance Hotel in Las Vegas on Tuesday, December
12, 2006.
